1. Pickup & Explore Taza

After being picked up from your accommodations in Fez, we’ll begin our exciting exploration of Taza, a town steeped in history and culture.

• Historical Significance: Taza is strategically located between the Rif and Middle Atlas Mountains and has been a key entry point for eastern invaders throughout Moroccan history.
• The Old Town: Wander through the narrow streets and alleys, taking in the charm of Taza’s old city.
• Key Highlights:

  • Covered Moulwalb Market
  • Mighty Barbican Fortifications surrounding the old town

We’ll also stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Taza before continuing our journey.

2. Explore the Friouato Cave

Next, we’ll drive approximately 30 km south of Taza, into the breathtaking landscape of the Middle Atlas Mountains, to visit the Friouato Cave, a natural wonder and the deepest cave in North Africa.

• About the Cave:
  • Depth: 272 meters of the cave have been explored, although its true extent remains a mystery.
  • Rock Formations & Scenic Views: The cave offers incredible natural beauty and fascinating rock formations.
• Two Ways to Explore the Cave:
  1. Scenic Visit: Descend via the iron stairway to see the cave’s picturesque opening and return.
  2. Adventure Experience: Hire a professional guide with spelunking equipment for a deeper exploration of the cave’s depths.

3. Discover Taza National Park & Tazekka Mountain

After exploring the Friouato Cave, we’ll take a scenic drive around Taza National Park, with stunning views of the Tazekka Mountain (1980m). This final stop allows you to appreciate the natural beauty of the surrounding mountainous terrain before returning to Fez.
