On the first day of our 5-day tour from Fes to Marrakech, we will pick you up from your Riad and begin our journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains and tourist towns. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco due to its alpine climate and European style. Ifrane is also home to ski stations and a large national park and is known as the second cleanest town in the world. From there, we will drive to the Cedar Forest near Azrou, a Berber village and the oldest and largest forest in the country. There, you can enjoy walking around the forest and seeing the tall Cedar trees and local monkeys.
After visiting the Cedar Forest, we will continue on to Midelt, one of the industrial centers in Morocco known for its apple production and fossils. Along the way, we will see nomad tents and their herds on the side of the road. In Midelt, we will have lunch and then drive through the Tizi-N-Talghamt pass and the Zabel Tunnel to reach the Ziz Valley, where we will stop for a panoramic view of the valley of dates. From there, we will drive through the palm oases towards Erfoud city, where you will have the chance to explore the traditional market with its variety of date fruits and local products such as fossils and spices. We will then drive along the mountains, where locals hunt for fossils and geological trips are organized, before arriving in Merzouga. In Merzouga, you will spend the night in a Riad or hotel, with dinner and breakfast included.
